Writing blogs

Well, here it is; my first blog. I have posted comments to blogs before, but never authored one. I am unsure of the process, the responses, the necessity.

What are your thoughts about the need for posting our thoughts to the World Wide Web? When should we speak out? When should our thoughts remain private?

I think it depends on the person...Some people really like communicating online and sharing their thoughts to the world. Other people rather talk to "real" people face to face. I think that publishing on the web should follow the same rights and freedom of the press - i.e. no sensorship. I think that people should be allow to speak their mind. If others don't agree then they shouldn't read it.

People should be allowed to express their opinions in any forum. For me, I'd rather keep my thoughts closer to home. I like to share, but I don't think I would post everything for the entire world to view.

I too am looking forward to the finish line. :)

It's a "Brave New World" out there. It used to be such comments, if written down were put into a diary. Now it seems everyone has a blog and puts whatever ideas flow into their head at any random time. I would hesitate to put anything in blog form (e-mail, video, or otherwise) but I think I am in the growing minority here.

I know of someone who was threatened with legal action b/c of the things she wrote in her blog (for defamation of character). She took things way over the line in her blog, and it could have cost her. I'll never talk about someone on a personal level b/c of this!
